Local ownership is crucial for an effective and sustainable transitional justice intervention. Sri Lanka has yet to start a meaningful discourse on the significance of a community-driven process.
Roshni Kapur is a programme manager/political strategist at Rule of Law Programme Asia at Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS). She was a research analyst at the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS), National University of Singapore from 2018 to 2021. She is the editor of the volume Sustainable Energy Transition in South Asia: Challenges and Opportunities (2019). Her research focus is on conflict resolution, transitional justice, identity politics, geopolitics, and violent extremism in South Asia. She regularly writes for East Asia Forum, Lowy Institute, Middle East Institute, and Observer Research Foundation.
